Text of the Document

Attend in the name of the holy and indivisible Trinity. Darius, by favor of the divine mercy, august king of the East, and Roxanne, queen. Since human memory is short and does not suffice for a crowd of things, the authority of those who preceded our age, the divine emperors and kings, has decreed that those things were to be written down which the progress of fleeting time generally removes from the knowledge of men. Wherefore let the generality of the present as well as the future subjects of our realm know that whereas we are constantly minded to reward great virtue with great praise, and great merit with great reward, and whereas we have of time immemorial taken note of the many good works and noble deeds of our right worthy and well beloved subject Jonathan Carver, who has for so long served this realm with great skill and dedication in many capacities both martial and peaceful, attending both ourselves and our august predecessors in fashion so steadfast and true, tireless and patient, that there can be no doubt of his worth nor of the love in which we hold him. Therefore do we, of our august majesty and will grant, provide and decree that the same Jonathan Carver shall be raised from this time forward to the rank, title, estate and dignity of a Baron of our Court, along with all those prerogatives, commodities, jurisdictions, royalties, privileges, franchises, and preeminences thereto or thereabouts both by sea and land, whatsoever, singular and sundry, that are attached thusly as his immutable privilege, right and honor, any other statute, act, law, or any ordinance whatsoever to the contrary in anywise notwithstanding. Further do we grant, provide and decree that the same Jonathan Carver shall forever and in perpetuity be the sole bearer of these arms: Quarterly azure and argent, a chalice between in bend two compass stars counterchanged. For this purpose, in order that this our royal decree may, for all ages, remain valid and unshaken, we have ordered the present charter to be written and to be sealed and signed with our sign manual upon this the fourth of March, being the feast of the St. Peter of Pappacarbone and the octave of the feast of the holy St. Ceasarius of Nanzianzen, in the sixth month of our reign, being the third year of the indiction and fortieth the year of the Society and also the two thousand and sixth year of the incarnation, at our court in the Barony of Bhakhail.
